Fahrenheit 451... Part 1 (still in progress)

I'm having a great time reading Fahrenheit 451 for the second time. It's really like I'm reading a new book because I don't remember a lot of it. I didn't get the significance of some of the images when I was younger.

The book, by Ray Bradbury, was written in the sixties

It's about Censorship, and about being able to think for yourself

It has a significant amount of mild language, particularly offensive are several variant uses of God's name

It's about a world that is so fast, entertained, and mainstreamed that it's lost all significance. People don't realise they are very unhappy. Bradbury uses the same word picture (alive, but not alive) for both people who are living for this entertainment crazed world, and machines, suggesting a similarity.

It has a wealth of quotes worth pondering (will post examples soon).

It uses vivid imagery of one supposed future, and beautiful word pictures.

Why?

I've started this blog so I can talk about all the wonderful books that I have read and give a response to them. A site for Christian book reviews!
